Class 25/33: Step 1 – Removing Body & Bogies

  • Grip the base plate between finger and thumb where the battery box protrudes. Grip the body with the other hand and pull it upwards.

 


Tip: the body has small clips on the inside and you may need to use a finger / nail to slightly widen the bottom of the body whilst exerting upwards pressure. If required, give the body a wiggle to free it before pulling upwards. A large amount of force is not required. The clips on the inside of the bodies on many locos are generally ineffective, or the body has distorted (widened) and the clips no longer grip the baseplate).


 

  • Unscrew the chassis end screws which hold the metal bogie retainers in place. Bogies will drop out.
  • You should now have the following components, as in picture 3.
